Jade Plants are from Venus

I love the funky things plants do. When Jade plants drop leaves, since
they are succulents, the leaf turns into an entire mini-plant. If it
can find water in the four months before it dries up completely there
will be a new Jade plant in the world. Someone brought one of these
proto plants into the house and set it on a window ledge. I'm pretty
sure it's been there for several months, growing tiny little leaves and
sending roots off into nowhere. I finally took pity on it the other
day and stuck it on top of some damp compost.

The root structures it's sending out are absolutely fascinating, so I
had to photograph them. At least I *think* they are roots. :-)

Yikes. It looks like a spiny pillbug.

Yep, some kind of bug anyway, when I watered the plant it started waving it's spiny bits. At first I thought they were bugs, but when they hadn't moved for weeks I became convinced they were roots. Now they are outside.

the roots look like the underside of a trilobite to me. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Trilobite)
