Rebecca

She's just on the cusp of being able to sit up by herself now, she can usually manage it for somewhere between 0-30 seconds before toppling over in a random direction. It's interesting that such a simple thing as sitting up offers so many new things to do. You can see better than lying on your back, and you have more arm mobility for grabbing than when you are on your tummy (mostly holding yourself up with your arms.)
Watching babies struggle with basic motor skills really makes you appreciate being whole bodied.
Given her sitting up we tried going out in a backpack (been using a front-pack) for the first time, to the farmers market, yesterday. It was fine, and I think much more comfortable for me at least. Of course, I needed to spend 10 minutes baby-proofing the back of my head...
Crossed the 9,000 word mark in NaNoWriMo, I'm on track to finish this time through, we'll see if I can keep it up. I had to download a baby keyboard entertainer/safe program this weekend, to let Rebecca play with my computer. She still needs to be kept away from the LCD screen though...

It's so great when they can sit up. Playing becomes much more interesting.
Surprisingly, it actually takes awhile before they're able to get into a seated position from lying down.
Development is wacky.
