they are succulents, the leaf turns into an entire mini-plant. If it
can find water in the four months before it dries up completely there
will be a new Jade plant in the world. Someone brought one of these
proto plants into the house and set it on a window ledge. I'm pretty
sure it's been there for several months, growing tiny little leaves and
sending roots off into nowhere. I finally took pity on it the other
day and stuck it on top of some damp compost.
The root structures it's sending out are absolutely fascinating, so I
had to photograph them. At least I *think* they are roots. :-)
