Kepler's Closes

I walked by Kepler's today on my way to lunch, and noticed that it was darker than usual. In fact, it was empty. I walked around to their main door, and was shocked to read their letter to the community. After 50 years of serving the community with books, of being a vibrant community icon, they were closed. It's true that there were small signs that things were changing. They stopped carrying foreign newspapers. They started a bargain books table. Neither of these things I noticed myself, there seemed to be always people waiting in line at the register, at least when I went around lunch. There are still banners hanging outside, one for each decade of their existence, complete with happy iconic pictures. There are still pictures from children, in the children's section windows, saying "go go Kepler's" and "Happy 50th Birthday." We're all a bit shocked.
