As I was driving from our 12'x12' storage locker full of stuff through strip mall land to the mall to buy some cheap plastic bento stuff from Daiso, I was overwhelmed by how much of everything, time, space, money, is devoted to buying and selling stuff. Not a new thing, just what I was struck by today. It makes me want to adopt No Impact Man's resolution of not buying anything new for a year. I really don't think I could do it though. I immediately start to think of ways I could qualify it to make it work, but it would be a resolution riddled by qualifications. Thus for a long time I have had the weak resolution that I would try to buy 'less', but other than carrying around a glass water bottle I can't see where I have succeeded.
