Popped Rice!

What happens when you put brown rice in your air popper? It pops! I've always wondered, and I finally got around to trying it. So cute! A lot of it just toasts and cracks, but is still yummy and crunchy, and some of them pop into the cutest tiniest puffs. I used sweet brown rice, and I had to turn the air popper off and dump them out when I judged them toasted enough, because they aren't fluffy enough to all fly out on their own. I wonder if you can buy brown rice dried specifically for popping? And what else I can put in the popper that will do something interesting? Hmmmmmmmm....

Isn't that basically how Rice Krispies are made?

I don't know, because those are made with white rice, which doesn't have a hull, so I don't see how it could pop. They are 'puffed' not popped, but I don't know how. Maybe they stick them in a vacuum chamber? (^_~)
